Durasplint/Flexible Splint Patient Care
FITTING YOUR FLEXIBLE SPLINT
Your Night Guard should be firm but not difficult to insert. Adjustment is required if this is the case. The appliance can be softened in hot water (50-55*C) before insert, however this should only be done once the dentist ensures the Night Guard can be removed. If upon removal the appliance feels tight, rinse your mouth with warm to hot water for at least 30 seconds to soften again.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:
Clean your night guard with a tooth brush and hand soap after each use, and store in a dry place.
DO NOT use toothpaste to clean as this will scratch the splint making it increasingly hard to keep clean.
If a film or build up occurs over time, soak the splint in an appliance cleaning solution such as Duraclean, Polident, Biotene or other effervescent cleaning tablets for the suggested time.
